Freshman boys are third in tourney


The freshman boys basketball team finished third overall at the Frosty Classic that was held in Lawrenceburg on Saturday.

“We played a little short handed in the tourney because of injuries,” Coach Sean McGarvey said. “But I was proud of the guys and their ability to come back after losing the first game to Lawrenceburg.”

In the opener, the Pacers were defeated by a final score of 49-40. Switzerland County was led by Nathan Smith, who had an outstanding game, finishing with 20 points, six rebounds, and four steals.

Calen Otter had nine points and four rebounds; Anthony Dennis and Anthony Dasis each finished with four points each; and Josh Yeary chipped in three points.

In the consolation game, Switzerland County bounced back and defeated Taylor, Ohio, by a score of 44-32.

The Pacers were again led by Nathan Smith, who tallied 15 points, pulled down nine rebounds, and also had two steals in the game. Calen Otter was also in double figures with 10 points, and also added five rebounds and three assists.

Josh Yeary had nine points and four steals; Brady Scudder had five points and five rebounds; Anthony Dennis finished with three points and two steals; and Anthony Dasis had two points and four rebounds.

Other Pacers participating in the tournament included Steven Craig, Quinn Meyer, and Fred Wilson.

The Pacer squad next takes the floor on Tuesday, January 6th, when they return to Lawrenceburg for a 6 p.m. tip off.
