The freshman boys basketball team opened play on Monday night in the ORVC Freshman Tournament with a 51-49 victory over Southwestern.
Zach O’Neal had a huge night for the Pacers, finishing with 23 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
He was joined in double figures by Allen Chase, who had 13 points, seven rebounds, and a blocked shot; and Blake Whitham had nine points and four assists.
Adam Clark finished with four points, three assists, and three rebounds; while Damon Robbins contributed two points, one assist, and one steal.
“We let a big lead slip away and then got down late,” Coach Sean McGarvey said. “We showed a lot of poise in the last 30-seconds to get the win.”
The Pacers now advance to the semifinals of the tournament, which is being hosted this year by Switzerland County. Coach McGarvey’s squad now takes on South Ripley this Monday night, February 11th, at 6 p.m.
