The Bicentennial of Vevay, Switzerland, Indiana is in 2013 and a week-long celebration is in the planning stages.
The celebration will take place October 4th-13th, 2013 with pre-Bicentennial activities beginning with January’s ‘First Friday’ event. It is the hope of the volunteers working on this celebration to make as many of the events free or at a very low cost to everyone that attends.
Some of the events that are in the works include:
– Reviving the “Swiss Belles” and “Brothers of the Brush” from the Sesquicentennial.
– A local play at the Hoosier Theater.
– A 1917 Chautauqua at the Historical Museum.
– Activities at the YMCA for kids.
– Many events that the Ogle Park.
– And a grand celebration on October 13th to wrap up the celebration.
There are many others that will be announced in the near future.
The volunteers are excited to kick off fund raising for the celebration by inviting the first 200 people who give $200 to the 200 year celebration to become a member of the “Founding Funders Campaign”.
Even more exciting is that the Paul Ogle Foundation has awarded a grant to the 2013 Bicentennial to match $1 for $1 the $200 gifts to the “Founding Funders Campaign” up to $50,000.
