Former bank employee sentenced

Tammy M. Hayes, a former employee of MainSource Bank in Vevay, has been sentenced on fraud charges.

She appeared in Decatur County Superior Court on Monday afternoon, where Judge Matthew D. Bailey officially accepted a guilty plea.

She pled guilty to fraud on a financial institution, which is a Class C felony. As part of the plea agreement, a charge of theft was dismissed.

She was sentenced to one year in the Indiana Department of Corrections, and will serve four years of supervised probation upon her release. In Indiana, inmates receive two days credit for every one day served.

She was also order to pay restitution to the bank in the amount of $48,268.09; and given 80 hours of community service.

She was taken into custody immediately following the judgment, and is currently being held in the Decatur County Detention Center.

Tammy Hayes is a member of the Switzerland County School Board, representing Pleasant Township; and is also an advertising representative for Vevay Media Group.
