‘Footloose’ is theme of choral musical event at high school

The Switzerland County High School show choir and choir will present “Footloose” on Friday night, April 29th, as a part of the annual “Soup, Salad, and Song” event.

The program will begin at 6:30 p.m., and is under the direction of music teachers Steve Ward and Bill Kindle. Toni Allen choreographed the show.

Show choir members participating in the show include: Brittany Heffelmire, Jessica Yocum, Rebekah Williams, Maggie Eich, Kaleesa Archer, Brianne Martin, Liz Hon, Savannah Kurtz, Kayla Konkle, Brenna Green, Kylie Floyd, Jenna South, Emilie Gray, Amber Biddle, Meagan Chase, Sarah Morgan, Tifanie Rider, Jacob Roland, Jimmy Williams, Adam Shelley, Amanda Watson, and Jenny Taylor.

Other members of the Switzerland County High School choir will provide back up voices and motions during the performance.

The show choir will perform songs from the movie “Footloose”, such as: “Footloose”, “Let’s Hear It for the Boys”, “Hero”, “I’m Free”, and “Almost Paradise”, among others. The show choir members will also be performing dances like disco, breakdancing, slam dancing, the moonwalk, the electric slide, the running man, headbanging and lots more fancy footwork.

Soloists scheduled to perform include Rebekah Williams, Brenna Green, Amber Biddle, and Maggie Eich.

Also featured during the evening will be other solos, duets, trios, and ensembles from members of the choir.

Serving for dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the cost for dinner is $6.50 at the door; or $5.50 if paid and reserved in advance. For reservations, see Steve Ward at the high school.

The concert without the dinner is free and open to the public.
