Jim and Linda Austin celebrated their 45th anniversary at breakfast with daughter and son Cheri and Ethan, the grandchildren and their breakfast friends at Granny’s last Friday. They got many cards and cupcakes. They shared with all who came in. It was fun. Congratulations.

Dan Bixler was making good music with his guitar at the Markland farmers market Saturday. They had lots of home grown produce, handmade jewelry, beautiful paintings by Karen Nickell, other crafts, bakery goods, and a chicken lunch. I hope they find another place to set up after the food pantry moves. Congratulations to Don and Caulette Talbert for their 34th anniversary. They had a booth of good vegetables, flowers, jams and jellies, etc., at Markland.

Pete and Carolyn Lowe say thanks for all their 60th anniversary cards and wishes. Also, special thanks to Erin, Jeremy, Jerrie, Rod, Denny and Charlotte for the work you did at the house while they were in Florida. What a wonderful surprise. Thanks again. They visited from August 2nd to 12th with Jerrie Lowe in Titusville, Florida, and with Lenny, Kristen and McKayla Detloff in Oak Hill, Florida. Jerrie, Pete and Carolyn visited Gayle and Troy Lowe in Largo, Florida.

Richard and Clara Henry visited in Vevay for the Vevay High Alumni and the festival. They also visited Helen McKay and others. Clara said how well they enjoy the Vevay paper and complimented my column. Jerry McKenzie, Jean Adkins, June Rice, Juanita Keith, Virginia Briggs and several others said they enjoy the paper.

Steve Cole, Emerson Cole, Jr., Mary Lynn Cole and Linda S. Jones spent Saturday at the Madison River Walkway, taking in the car show. They had a delicious lunch at the Red Pepper and had a good time visiting. Junior and Mary Lynn are down visiting a few days from Seneca, Illinois.

Rahe Jean Griffin called Glenda to say she visited Pete Furnish on Labor Day at Louisville’s Jewish Hospital and they are seeing some improvement. Keep him in your prayers. Also, Debby Hunter, Linda Jones, Genevieve Truitt, Dale Poling, Dale Thompson, Jerry Chase, Nadine Hankinson and many others.

Nadine Swift and Patty Chase visited Rhonda Frifield at Swiss Villa where she was working Sunday. They also visited Vivian Chase, Mary Grace Lothridge, Betty Smith and others.

Dr. and Mrs. Cabell McKee and Bindi were in town for the Swiss Wine Festival and their 50th and 55th Vevay High School Alumni and reunion. They enjoyed their visit with Martha McKee, Rocky, Paula and Chef Sherry. On Tuesday Judy McKee visited with family and friends in Madison. She had lunch with Larry and Joyce Park, Ryan Park, Tiffany Sever, Kai Kempker, Connie Mustafa and Kim Crawford.

Faye Lewis’ company was Donna Walker, Cathy DeBaun, Gertrude Voris, Patty Williams, Ron and Jean Sandidge, Evelyn Smith, Patty Chase, Nadine Swift, Glenda Sullivan and Mark Scott. Nadine took her a beautiful basket of flowers.

Dana Einhaus and two co-worker friends from North Vernon visited Glenda Sullivan on their way to the festival Friday.

Happy birthday Larry Stewart, Rahe Jean Griffin, Brenda Peelman, John L. Lock, Mary Ruth Poling and more.

The Florence Church of Christ will have a 9-11 Remembrance service on 9-11-14. Randy Frye and Indiana State Volunteer Firefighters Association Chaplain Ed Gerdowsky and many others will be there. Everyone is welcome.


The Vevay High School Class of 1959 had its 55th reunion Friday night, August 22nd, at Switzer Square. The event was catered by Chef Sherry Houze.
