Well no one called me to say they would write Florence news so I will keep going as long as I can. I am scheduled for hip surgery Thursday (today) so keep me in your prayers. I took a little trip to KDH in the life squad. They were wonderful. Nadine, Glenn, Luke, Zack and Eric took care of me. Thanks. Denny and Mary Lou Bowman and Glenda Sullivan came after me and got me safe at home. What would we do without relatives and friends?

Margaret Lee Weidmann’s company was Kay O’Neal, Melody and Gavin Reese. Jason Messmore is visiting Randy, Lorraine and Ryan Brown and Grandma for a few days. Lorraine Brown and her brothers had a nice vacation together. Lorraine is back home and her brothers are at their homes in Oregon and North Carolina.

Debbie Gregory visited her mom and dad, Ray and Virginia Bear, in Madison. Hi Ray and Virginia from Switzerland County.

The Florence Church of Christ community picnic was well attended Saturday. Good food followed with good music by Zack Shelton and 64 to Grayson.

Get well prayers go out to Burnie Hunt, Dale Thompson, Patty Chase, Alice Whitham, Keith Little, Denny and Mary Lou Bowman, Glenda Sullivan, Eddie Gregory, Nadine Swift, Roy and Bonnie Duckworth, Charles and Alberta Pickett and Judy Lozier. Get well prayers also for Bob Rice who is having surgery in California. He is June Cole’s husband.

Judy Lozier called on Patty Chase during the week.

Wanted to clarify some news from last week’s column: Alicia Fritter, Andrea Brogan’s sister, was the hostess for Andrea’s recent bridal shower. Wilma Dennis made all of the candy for the shower, and Kim Hambrick made the delicious food. It was a wonderful day, congratulations Andrea!

I have probably missed some news this week. I’ll try to do better when I get back. Please call your news into the newspaper office at (812) 427-2311; or email it to thayes@jsouthvv.com.

Thank you.
