We are still getting ready for the Florence Birthday celebration on October 14th. Rita Brogan told me she saw Lewis Fritter mowing some of the grassy spots in Florence. Thanks Lewis, we want to look as good as can be. Conrad Chaskel stopped by to say he would like to be involved in the celebration. They live in Ohio but visit the Chaskel home in Florence often. He said they enjoy reading the Florence news and the Vevay paper. We will have a town meeting tonight (Thursday September 14th) at the church at 6:30 p.m.
The Florence Church bunch enjoyed lunch at the Sunset Grill near Warsaw a couple of weeks ago and had a nice visit with Tanya Pike and her family as they were there celebrating Tanya’s 50th birthday. She looks a lot younger. Hope you had a happy birthday Tanya!
Eddie and Debbie Gregory are grandparents again. Jill and Neal Smith had a baby girl weighing eight pounds on September 10th. Her name is Juliana Carolyn and she has a big sister, congratulations. Jade and Nyla (the dog) are spending a few days with Eddie and Debbie.
Get well prayers for Agnes Wheeler. She had some stint repair done at Clark County Hospital on Wednesday, September 13th.
Judy Lozier had dinner with LeAnn Lozier and friend Dawn Miller in Lexington, Kentucky last week.
Glenda Sullivan, Patty Chase, Donna Hughes, Keisha Morton and others from Indiana went to a visitation in Warsaw, Kentucky for Kim Reed’s husband, Bill. Kim works for KDH and had been at the Vevay Clinic for a long time. She has been working at different clinics for a while. Sympathy to the Reed family.
Richard and Leona Adams, Bob and Lois Stutzman, Gordie Stutzman, Nick Stutzman and friend Emily, David and Linda Stutzman, and four friends from Brookville had dinner at the Rising Star last Monday evening to celebrate Linda’s birthday. They had a great time. Happy birthday, Linda.
Shane and Natalie James Amison of near East Enterprise have a new beautiful baby boy named Logan Chester. Grandparents are Mike and Cathy James and Vicky James. Great grandparents are Leona and Richard Adams and Laverne Bailey.
Trent Young is staying at Fairway Inn near Florence while working in the area. He said he had a really good lunch Sunday at Granny’s in Vevay and plans to go there often while working here.
Malcolm Markland sent me this news item. Thanks Mal. During the Wine Festival/Vevay Alumni weekend a clan Markland was held at the Vevay headquarters. Attendees included: Cathy and Mick Markland of Avon; Shirley and Mark Hermending of Speedway; Mary Lou and Denny Bowman of Aberdeen; Jean and Roger Woodfill of Lawrenceburg; Barb Branigan of Lawrenceburg; and Mal Markland of greater Vevay. Special guests were Phyllis and Rodger Weaver of Aberdeen and Carol and Jim Strausbaugh of Cincinnati. Tattoos were optional.
Randy, Lorraine and Ryan Brown took mom Margaret Lee Weidmann and Cheryl Messmore out for supper Sunday to celebrate mom’s birthday. Its hard to believe she is 91. They were joined by Emily Lewellen and daughter Jean of Dresden, Tennessee. Margaret Lee’s company was Kay O’Neal, Bobby Brown, Betty Hargrove, Dianna Brown, and Linda Harrell. Margaret Lee wants to thank everyone for her phone calls and beautiful birthday cards. She also said her family sends their sympathy to the family of Nathan Christman.
Happy birthday to Margaret Lee and to Stella Bennett. Stella had a couple of big days for her 100th birthday. Bob and Janet Kent spent some time with her and they celebrated and ate cake. Good for you, Stella. They had a big party and lots of cake at the Jack Sullivan Senior Center with over 100 people (if I heard it right); and the next day they had another day of cake at Swiss Villa. Bob and Janet stayed at the Fairway Inn and I got to visit with them there.
We send our sympathy to the Nathan Christman family and the Betty West Garland family.
We send special prayers for the people in the hurricane.
