It was a wonderful weekend in the area with the school and family reunion and the Swiss Wine Festival and great parade. I don’t know who worked so hard to get it together but they all deserve a big thank you.

The Vevay High School Alumni lunch and meeting was also great. Approximately 177 members attended with spouses and guests. It was a full house and it gets better every year.

K.C. Banta President, Margaret Rowlett Vice President, Rita Sullivan Secretary, Karen Miller Treasurer and Joy Pavy Honorary Member. Glenda Sullivan, Patty Chase and Kay Hyde are the nominating committee. Gayla Bullock’s crew provided a delicious meal as usual. We hope to see more next year.

There were many reunions over the weekend. The class of 1957 met at the Pines Sunday with 17 members and guests. They were: Paul and Karen Reed, Janice and Tom Smith, Donna Raisor, Joy Dean Lee, Glenda Sullivan, Keith and Pat Dixon, Don and Carolyn Truesdell, Lloyd and Deanna Christman, Ramona and Clarence Hunt, Hazel Wilkerson, Peggy Furnish, Thelma Seal, Nell Cayton, Raymond Slack, Lois Fothergill, Linda and Gene Robbins and Jim Leap. They and a great time and I think they said, same time next year.

Denny and Mary Lou Bowman attended the 1971 Switzerland County High School Reunion at the TEC building and said it was really nice.

LeAnn Lozier spent Friday with Judy and Lori Lozier and attended the festival.

Shirley Pike Neal spent the weekend with her mom Frances Pike and attended the Vevay High Alumni Meeting.

Donna Hughes and Patty Chase visited Glenda Sullivan last week. Wednesday, Janice Tuley and Cindy Geis visited Glenda and Pete and Carolyn Lowe. Janice, Cindy and Glenda went to Roxano’s for the famous bread sticks they have to get whenever they are in Vevay.

Faye Lewis, Tim, Annette, Abby, Parker and Lexie Deno visited with Ron and Jean Sandidge in Vevay Saturday. Other company was: Betty Lucas, Patty and Bruce Williams, Bobby and Barbara Leap, Robin Lawson, John and Mary Archer, Rita Sullivan, Janet and Richard Sullivan and Glenda Sullivan.

Darin and Clayton Seale, Richard and Janet Sullivan, Sondra Hyde, Glenda Sullivan and Steve and Judy Malone all visited Tracy Seale at the Waters of Madison. Bonnie and Roy Duckworth and Verle Truitt visited Genevieve Truitt at the Waters of Dillsboro.

Darrell and Peggy Stoll, Jerry and Robin Jewell, Jessica Jewell and friend, Linda Jones, P.J. Jones and Annie and the kids, visited Bud and Betty Hargrove over the festival weekend.

Jason Messmore visited Randy, Lorraine and Ryan Brown over the weekend. Randy took Lorraine, Bobby Brown and Margaret Lee Weidmann to the Sunset Grill for supper Saturday evening.

Margaret Lee’s company was Melody and Tristan Reese, Kay O’Neal, Cheryl Messmore, Bobby Brown, Teresa (Furnish) McClanahan, McKenzie, Sloan, Carey and Chad Brown, Jim and Carol Strasbaugh, Linda Harrell and Jason Messmore. Friday, Teresa McClanahan took Margaret Lee and Cheryl to Mo’s for an early birthday supper for Margaret Lee.

We send sympathy to the Bucky Pavy family, the Mary Alice Gaudin family and Irma Nolan family, Corinne Martin’s mother.

Jerry McKenzie, Billy Roberts, Royce Stiening, Newell Fox, Arlene Curtis Facemier, Gayla Archer Smith, Martha Ayler Sloan, Patty Jewell Chase, Lona White Mathews, Clara Roberts Henry, Jim Welch and Ronnie Fisher from the Vevay High School Class of 1954 and a great get together at the Alumni luncheon. We hope to see the rest of you next year. Some of the spouses and guest also enjoyed the day.

The Florence Church of Christ will have a 9-11 remembrance service Sunday afternoon September 11th at 2 p.m. All are invited and encouraged to attend. Refreshments to follow.

Get well prayers for Earl Holmes. He spent a few days at Kings’ Daughters’ Hospital and is recovering at home. Alberta Pickett broke a finger. Sheila Rininger hurt her foot in a fall.
