The Relay for Life was good Friday night at Ogle Park. The attendance was small but everyone had a good time. I don’t have any totals yet but it will be good for a small group.
The survivor diner was really good at the high school cafeteria given by the Farm Bureau again. Thanks to Brandy Graham of Madison for her help. Everyone enjoyed walking. The Florence and Friends homemade ice cream was a big hit again with Roy and Bonnie Duckworth in charge. Lake Rayls Fishing Buddies had good food. Cheryl Hussong’s team from Patriot was new this year. Welcome to them. The Peelman family walked for Jeff Peelman’s memory. Janice Ramsey and family walked with Jack Brown as he is still fighting cancer Leona Adams’ team and many others also walked.
The auction was handled by Friendship Bank and had many items donated.
The Florence & Friends team collected aluminum cans all year for the Relay and want to thank the Hoosier Theater, Florence Regional Sewer District, Florence Church of Christ, the Fairway Inn, Lisa Scott, Denny Bowman, Roy Duckworth and everyone who saved their cans for us. Also thanks to the Hoosier Theater, Mary Lou Furnish, Mike Johnson, Kippy Haton, Rod Chase and Evelyn Mitchell Leath for their very generous donations to our team and to everyone for all they donated in money and time.
Congratulations to Jerry and Peggy Furnish on their 57th anniversary and to Gene and Helen Parks for 50 years. Get well to Hazel Wilkerson. She had bypass surgery and is at Thornton Terrace for therapy. Linda Jones has gone home from Swiss Villa after therapy. Larry Boggs is at Kentuckiana with a heart issue. Janet Brown’s granddaughter Kristen Parker was in an auto accident a couple of weeks ago and was not hurt but was very shaken up.
Mary Lou Bowman, Glenda Sullivan and Patty Chase went to Louisville for Patty’s doctor appointment last Thursday and of course they stopped at LaGrange’s Cracker Barrel on the way home.
Ken and Sylvia Byars enjoyed thier vacation in Branson, Missouri. They enjoyed three shows – The Celtic Ladies Six and The Shoji Tabuchi Show where they met with Norvin Breeck. Norvin is a Vevay boy who has been dancing on the Tabuchi Show for many years. Ken and Sylvia were glad to get home to get their dog Samson from a kennel in Kentucky. He was glad to see them too.
Irma Nolan, Charlie Nolan, Chet Nolan, Francis and Georganna Curl, Gregory Goins, Patrick Goins and Felicity Cassidy, Carrie Wright and friend Jason and Autumn Wright all enjoyed the day with Vernon and Corinne Martin and Wesley Curl to celebrate Wesley’s graduation. Good luck, Wesley.
Jill and Jade Smith are spending time with Debbie Gregory as she recovers at home from recent outpatient surgery. Get well, Debbie.
Randy and Lorraine Brown and Margaret Lee Weidmann visited Dutchie Scholl Sunday afternoon. Kay O’Neal, Randy and Lorraine and Ryan Brown, Carol Servier of Madison and Gaynell Leep Dalton of Parker, Colorado visited Margaret Lee. Carla and Gay Nell were in for the funeral of Sharon Brown in Madison.
We went to the visitation of Wanda Furnish, Earl Wayne’s wife at Madison. There were really a lot of old friends there. Sympathy to the family.
Peggy Sullivan came from Austin to visit the Florence Relay team and go to the auction.
