We are still getting calls from friends that want to help with the 200th birthday party for the town of Florence. We have a meeting planned for the 28th of June, so I’ll let you know next week what was accomplished. Jodie Winslow of Rising Sun called with a story about the first TV set in Florence. Denver Coy called from Florida to say they are moving back to Florence July 1st, and he would like to be a part of the celebration since he was raised in Florence.

I’m hoping to hear from Lura Mae Smith and other from out of town that know more than I do since I was a Vevay girl (and proud of that) before I became a Florence resident (proud of that, too). Get your stories ready and come share them with friends. Watch this paper for the date. Call me if you would like to help. I’m also hoping to hear from Joyce and Vernon Romans and others.

Welcome to Tiesha Couch. She went to work at Fairway Inn last week.

Betty Hargrove got a good doctor’s report: “Cancer Free”. She wants to thank PJ and Linda Jones for taking her to the emergency room and to the doctor appointments, and she thanks everyone for their cards, phone calls, and prayers. Her company has been Lisa Fisher and children from Indianapolis and PJ Jones and Annie and the kids; Jillanna Judy sent her some beautiful flowers; Jerry and Robin Jewell brought her a Hurricane; Donnie and Sue Pharis from New Palestine; Eddie Leap; and Herman Suber.

I had a nice visit with D.J. Wilhoite and little Sayler Ray Smith in Vevay last week. Sayler Ray was 1 year old on June 24th. Happy birthday to him and to Eddie Gregory, Shane Green, and Ronda Norfleet.

Mukesh and Bina Patel and boys Part and Rooshil visited Linda Jones and Patty Chase at the Fairway Inn at Florence on Sunday.

Margaret Lee Weidmann and Randy, Lorraine, and Ryan Brown’s company was Kay O’Neal, Steve Bladen and granddaughter Sally, Cheryl Messmore, Bobby Brown, and Jason Messmore; Molli and Bryles Funk and Logann Bovard and daughter Kynlee; Megan Arvin, and Jerilyn Van Winkle.

Margaret Lee and Cheryl attended the Brown reunion.

Cheryl spent a few days with Linda Harrell, Joyce Atwood, and Judy Kay McKee and Linda’s at Madison.

Get well prayers for Larry Turner after serious heart surgery. Also Richard Adams for eye care; also Glenda Fritter, Marge Zimmerman, Pam May, Derek Archer, and Geneva Scotti.

We went to Helen Graham’s funeral and got to visit with a lot of our family. Sympathy to the family. Helen will be missed. Sympathy also to the Christine Ellis family; the Howard Wade family; and the Lucille Weales family.
