Hello from Florence. I believe summer is finally here. It was really hot for the yard sales but there was a lot of people out and many yard sales. It was good to see that many people in Vevay.

I had a really good visit with classmate Lona White Mathews from Florida. She was in for the funeral of her brother Ernie McKenzie. We also had a good visit with the rest of the family at the visitation. Ernie was a good friend to everyone and he will be missed. Sympathy to the family.

Peggy Sullivan of Austin is recovering from a fall. She had broken ribs and a broken wrist that needed surgery. Peggy spent a couple of days with Brenda Peelman and they went to the funeral of Wayne Ashcraft at Rising Sun. Our sympathy to Suzie and all the family.

Jill and Neal Smith’s little girl, Jade was visiting grandparents Ed and Debbie Gregory and I visited with Ed and Jade in the yard. Jade is a beautiful little girl, always smiling and laughing.

We enjoyed the graduation party for Kelsey Bush given by her mother LeeAnn Bush. Friends and family met at the Ogle Park Saturday evening to enjoy the good food and fellowship. Good luck to Kelsey as she goes on to good things.

Lake Rayls, Lou Wadsworth, Patty Chase and Glenda Sullivan met Mary Kay Cosmetics director Bonnie Crummin from Terre Haute and Shirley Harding from Shoals at Mo’s Saturday at noon for a great lunch and meeting.

Visitors of Glenda Sullivan last week were: Ruth Lohide, Patty Chase, Donna Hughes and Richard and Janet Sullivan. Richard and Janet also called on Marjorie Whitham at Swiss Villa. Glenda visited Marjorie Sunday afternoon.

Glenda Sullivan and Patty Chase met Loretta Westrick and Teresa Proctor of Carrollton at Welch’s Restaurant in Carrollton Friday for a really good lunch and visit. Glenda and Patty later visited Sonny and Sue Westrick in Carrollton. Sue is doing very well after surgery two weeks ago. They had got some bad news the day before that their granddaughter Stacy had died at her home in Louisville. We send our sympathy to the family.

Gary, Karen and David Wentworth, Roy and Bonnie Duckworth, Charles and Alberta Pickett, Don Smith, Judy Lozier, Patty Chase, and Glenda Sullivan had lunch in Kentucky Sunday after church to celebrate Alberta’s birthday, happy birthday Alberta, also to Earl Holmes, Tracy Walston an David Holmes.

Sympathy to the family of Jim Allison, our friend on Florence Hill Road. He will be missed.

Cheryl Messmore spent the weekend with mom and family and attended the Ernie McKenzie funeral with Randy Brown. Kay O’Neal, Randy, Lorraine and Ryan Brown and Rebecca also visited Margaret Lee.

Kay O’Neal took Margaret Lee out for lunch in Warsaw one evening.

The Relay For Life is almost here. Call if you want tot get on a team or if you want to by a balloon for the balloon launch with your loved ones names on them. That takes the place of lighting the candles. The names will also be posted on a board at the Relay, making it easier to read.

It was nice to see Mark and Rhonda Scott visiting in Florence Sunday. They attended evening service at the Church of Christ. Mark took part in the ride your bike to work program sponsored by Grote and the Kings Daughters Hospital. He won first prize. It was a new really nice bicycle. Good for you, Mark.
