The Indiana Home Extension ladies had their spring meeting at Nashville, Indiana Thursday. Leona Adams, Patty Chase, Mary Christiani, June Lack, Ruth Lohide, Joy Briggs, Myra Boles, Barbara Barnhill, Debbie Allen, Maxine Meisberger, Wanda Benzing, Lois Osage, Katherine Turner, Mariam Hammond, Sarah Huffman and I know I’m forgetting someone, and their educator, Peg Ehlers from Cross Plains, all met about 100 more ladies from the other counties in our district. It was a really good meeting and lots of good food provided by the Brown County club. We did miss Carolyn Lohide as she always attends but wasn’t able to at this time.

Wayne and Linda Whitlow of Bowling Green, Kentucky spent the weekend with Mike Johnson on Beatty Ridge.

Danny, Missy, Luke and Katelyn James had Sunday dinner with Richard and Leona Adams. Richard and Leona had worked Sunday morning at the Food Pantry in Markland and said they had 186 families there. On Saturday they were at the same place in Markland for the Farmers and Artisan Market Place. Everyone is welcome to come to it. Bring whatever you have to sell or just come to buy. They said it is every Saturday. No charge to set up.

We have lost another good friend, Nelson Turner. He was a good person and did a lot for Switzerland County and all around. We send our sympathy to Sue and the family. He has spent time working on the new Masonic building. They had a Masonic ceremony at the funeral and 68 Masonic brothers attended. That was a good tribute.

Get well and prayers go out to Steve “Bear” Bladen, little Mallory Westerkamp. She was hit by a falling limb. The little Schirmer boy who hurt his arm in a fall at school, Stella Bennett, Agnes Wheeler, Audrey Marsh and all in need.

Faye Lewis’ company was Mary Leo Archer, Robin Lawson, Mike Sawalich, Ron and Jean Sandidge, Evelyn Smith, Gertrude Voris, and Glenda Sulllivan.

Patty Chase and Glenda Sullivan were out working for the American Cancer Society relay coming up in June at Ogle Park. They left a few applications for the people who said they would give big donations to sponsor Switzerland County. Also got a good donation from Kippy Hatton and Chandler Chevrolet in Madison. If anyone wants to donate or be a sponsor for Switzerland County call me or Glenda at 427-3752 or 594-2289.

Beautiful little Jade Ilene Smith (the Ilene is for grandma Shirley Gregory) was born Monday, March 10th. Congratulations to parents, Neal and Jill Gregory Smith and welcome to Jade.

Darrell and Peggy Stoll of Washington, Indiana, Jerry and Robin Jewell, Linda Jones, and P.J. Jones all stopped by Bud and Betty Hargrove’s and they all went to the American Legion to celebrate Betty’s birthday. About 50 friends enjoyed the party. Davy and Patty Leap visited Bud and Betty and their other company and played euchre a couple of days and had a good time.

The Temple Baptist Church at Patriot will have a bring a friend day March 30th.

The Florence Church of Christ will have a Revival April 13th-16th. Everyone is welcome.

The Shoe Factory reunion will be April 12th at the Jack Sullivan Senior Center.

Ryan Brown took Mom to Red Lobster for supper. Lorraine Brown has been sick ever since she returned from Mexico. Randy Brown and Mom attended the Tom Bovard visitation and funeral. Tom will be missed.

Margaret Lee’s company was Randy, Lorraine and Ryan Brown, Donna Miller, Kay O’Neal, Gail Ann Clements, Mollie Funk, and Jerilyn Van Winkle. Cheryl Messmore is spending a few days with Mom and cleaning for her.
