Florence News 12-1-16


Patty went back to see Dr. Ronald Auer for her hip surgery check-up. He seemed to think she was doing very well and that means he done his part very well. He had a student named Ryan with him. They and all the staff were very nice.

Chauncey Slack celebrated his 99th birthday on the 22nd with his family. The next day Reta and Evon Gray visited to help him celebrate again. Reta said he does his own cooking and housework. That is great.

Verle and Genevieve Truitt, Roger Truitt; and Barb Finley, Bryan, Amy and Logan Mattox; Marc, Tehya, Dorothy, John and Maggie Duckworth and Dorothy’s boyfriend Cooper Howard; Randy, Michelle, Kiersten and Kaden McClure and Kiersten’s boyfriend Kaege Cunningham and Melissa Duckworth, all enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner Saturday with Roy and Bonnie Duckworth in Florence. They ranged in age from age two months to 83 years.

The residents of Switzer Square were treated to a pitch in Thanksgiving dinner as part of the Wades’ ministry. They provided the turkey and ham, etc., with others bringing their favorite dish. The next day the Vevay Assembly Church delivered a delicious meal to many at Switzer Square and many throughout the town of Vevay.

On Thanksgiving family and friends enjoyed a dinner at Janet and Richard Sullivan of Westport. They were Marjorie Whitham, Jeanette and Christy Knaus, Sondra Hyde, Patty Chase, Teryn, Chance Hinman and Kayla Davis, Tony Gipson, Cindy Geis, Chelsea and Ray Miller, David Brown, Dana Einhaus, Tracy, Clayton and Devin Seale and Glenda Sullivan. Janice and Bryant Tuley of Copperas Cove, Texas made a surprise visit. Everyone was happy to see them.

Alicia and Lewis Fritter took Ariel Brogan and Kaylee Redwine skating at Rising Sun. James and Rita Brogan met them at Acapulco’s in Rising Sun to celebrate Ariel’s birthday.

Margaret Lee Weidmann’s company was Jeff Gaudin, Kay O’Neal, Cheryl Messmore, Bobby, Diane, Chad, Cary, Sloan and McKinzie Brown, Jason, Shawn, Lisa, Taylor, Garren, A. J. Messmore, Megan, Kalee and Niko Ferreira, Randy. Lorraine and Ryan Brown and Patty Chase.

Randy, Lorraine and Ryan Brown’s company Thanksgiving was: Mom, Cheryl Messmore, Bobby, Diane, Chad, Cary, Sloan, McKinzie Brown and Jason Messmore. Lorraine cooked a delicious meal for them.

Eloise Bennett had a nice surprise birthday party when Nadine Swift and Patty Chase took her a pretty little birthday cake and ice cream. Nadine also took her flowers and a nice gift. They all enjoyed the evening and cake and ice cream. Happy birthday, Eloise.

Glenda Sullivan and Patty Chase had a nice Thanksgiving dinner with LeeAnn, Emily and Kelsey Bush. Braxton May and their neighbors Rick and Debbie, Sunday evening.

I got a nice card from Joyce and Vernon Romans while I was in Swiss Villa for therapy and I laid it with the other cards. I was looking at them again today, reading the nice notes for me to get well and Joyce had some news for me to put in the Vevay paper – it’s a little late, Joyce, but still good. She said Gene Hunefeld of Lawrenceburg came to visit them for a week. He likes to come to South Carolina for seafood and sunshine. They fixed oysters, shrimp, lobster and Jambalaya. We enjoyed the flea markets in Columbia. While Gene was here our daughter’s family Jennifer, Steve, Kyle and Cooper came for a visit from North Augusta, South Carolina. Joyce also said they wet fortunate that Hurricane Matthew only split off one of their trees. Thanks for writing Joyce – it is always nice hearing from you.

PJ Jones, Annie and the kids and Linda Jones and Jerry Jewell had Thanksgiving dinner with Betty and Bud Hargrove.

James and Rita Brogan, Carolyn and Kenny Cockerham, Jerry and Sally Brogan and Chris Wheatly had Thanksgiving dinner with Wilma Brogan at Swiss Villa.

Shirley Neal spent the weekend with Frances Pike and had Thanksgiving dinner with Peggy Hilligoss and family and also visited Earl and Barbara Bowling.

Charles and Alberta Pickett had Thanksgiving dinner with Edie Butcher and family and Thursday evening meal with Frank Rininger and family.

Willie Leach, Nancy Johnson, Mike Johnson, LeAnn Lozier and Caleb, Lori Ann Lozier and Nick had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at Judy Lozier’s home.

Linda Jones, Jerry and Robin Jewell and Betty Hargrove had a delicious steak dinner at Belterra compliments of Betty to celebrate Jerry and Linda’s birthdays.
