The American Cancer Society Relay teams will have their last meeting of this year tonight, Thursday, November 6th, at 6 p.m. at the Vevay Utility Building on West Seminary Street. Come help us plan next year’s events. Bring a team or get on one. We need you.
We were sorry to hear Pete Furnish passed away. We were classmates and friends for many years. Pete was well known in Vevay and he will be missed. Sympathy to the family.
Get well prayers go out for Dr. George Zubaty, Casey Rininger, Dean Henry, Dale Thompson and Linda Mae Jones have finished their treatments, Kim Hambrick said Gary Lee is doing well after his surgery. Kathy Keith was seriously injured in an auto accident, Jerry Chase is still in rehab but has been moved from West Virginia to Ohio, a little closer to their home. Faye Lewis fell in her bedroom and is all banged up. Get well to all.
Sympathy to the Arthur Holdcroft family. He was a well known man and a good friend to all.
Bonnie Duckworth and Patty Chase attended the Ladies Tea at Aberdeen Methodist Church Saturday. They were invited by Becky Curlin, Mary Lou Bowman, and Lou Wadsworth and joined about 80 more ladies from all around. They had a wonderful time as the speaker La Tan Murphy from Raleigh, North Carolina, filled the church with a lot of love and laughter. Pat Baker should be commended for her part in getting La Tan to speak here. They had great food and she gave each tea name a meaning such as the pomegranate tea was don’t take people for granted and the mint tea was I mint to call you, etc. It was funny. Pat had several gifts for a drawing (I didn’t win) and everyone got a magazine.
I had the pleasure of sitting by a lovely lady named Jill Elliot at the Ladies Tea. We found out we have a lot of mutual friends. Rita Whitham Ashcraft also sat by us. Her mother Myrtle was a good friend to me and a sister to Evelyn Hatton.
Paul and Sondra Furnish had lots of good food and Halloween decorations for their party Halloween night. Linda Downing won the best costume and Jim Brogan won the quiz contest. Aiden Furnish hit the witch on a broom piñata. Candy went everywhere. Attending were Hazel and Paul Knaus, Ronnie and Vonda Downing, Roy and Barbara Keith, Michael and Aiden Furnish, Linda Downing, Patty Chase, Mike Johnson, James and Rita Brogan, Lewis Fritter and Jamie Furnish. It was fun.
Kay O’Neal and Margaret Lee Weidmann went to Madison Thursday to shop and have lunch on one of the pretty days.
Floyd Wiltz spent the weekend with Randy and Lorraine Brown.
Bonnie and Roy Duckworth had breakfast with the McClure family in Madison Saturday.
