Florence News 11-30-17


The Florence Flowers ladies met at the Florence Church on Monday for a meeting and some good chili. Leona Adams, Sylvia Byars, Alberta Pickett, Bonnie Duckworth, Sharon Patterson, Inez Harker and Patty Chase attended. Their next meeting will be their Christmas party at Leona’s. They will all take a toy that will be give to local children.

Several area families enjoyed a good turkey dinner for Thanksgiving dinner that to the Florence Church of Christ.

Bina and Mukash Patel, Shane Green, Patty Chase, Ruth Beatty, Ronda Norfleet and Vanessa Stephen met at the Fairway Inn at Florence, Indiana Saturday to meet with Linda Jones with presents and birthday cakes for her birthday. They all had a good time and Linda has been sick ever since with a bug. Get well and hope you had a happy birthday Linda.

There was probably about 70 or more (just guessing) who enjoyed Pam Acton’s birthday party on November 18th at the fire department in Vevay. Relatives that she hasn’t seen for a while came to surprise her. She was really surprised with all of it. The theme was the “minions” and we heard that she in “one in a minion.” Many wore the minion blue and yellow. Cindy Welch provided delicious food. Malcolm did a good job getting it all together. Malcolm’s brother Nick and Kathy Markland and cousins Roger and Jean Woodfill, Shirley and Mark Hemerding, Barb Branigan, Denny and Mary Lou Bowman and others all filled one table.

Margaret Lee Weidmann is home from the hospital. Get well prayers for her. Also for Kenny Clements, Emma Leap, Levada Bladen, Sharon Deck, and all in need.

Sympathy to Donna Hughes and family. Donna’s sister in Kentucky passed away last week.

Carolyn Lowe and Janet Brown went to Madison last Sunday to meet Beverly Davis. Carolyn and Beverly went to visit Paul David Scott at Hanover. His birthday was Wednesday, November 22nd.

Frances Pike celebrated her 90th birthday with about 30 friends and family at the home of Peggy Hilligoss. Happy birthday Frances.

Judy Lozier’s sister Nancy Johnson from Kentucky celebrated her birthday Sunday with Ken and Sylvia Byars, Roy and Bonnie Duckworth, Gary and Karen Wentworth, David Wentworth, Don Smith, Patty Chase, Glenda Sullivan and Judy at Mi Viego in Carrollton. Happy birthday Nancy.

Thanksgiving Day, Janet and Richard Sullivan had dinner for Jeanette and Christy Knaus, Kayla Davis, Cindy Geis, Chelsea Mellan, Sondra Hyde, Patty Chase, Tracy Clayton, Deven Seale, and Glenda Sullivan at Westport.

Patty and Glenda stopped at Denny and Mary Lou Bowman’s on their way home from Westport to visit with their family. Chris and Laura Bowman, Luke, Sam and Sydney, Amy Heffelfinger, Lybbi, Rylli and Memphis. Lybbi is still recovering form her auto accident, taking therapy and doing well.

Betty Hargrove, Linda Jones, P.J. Jones, Annie and the kids and Jerry Jewell had Thanksgiving dinner at Butler Park.

Teresa Turner told us on Veteran’s Day at church that her grandmother Lillian had six boys in the service at the same time. They were Teresa’s dad Stanley, Larry, Frank, Lionel, Warnie and Donnie. Donnie died on Christmas Day while in the service.

Tom Shelton will be in concert Thursday, December 7th at 7 p.m. at the Florence Church of Christ. Everyone welcome, refreshments to follow.

Don’t forget Santa will be at the East Enterprise Fire House Saturday morning for breakfast.
