The Vevay American Legion has announced the winners of the American Flag Education program.
Switzerland County Elementary School fourth graders participated in the program just before the Christmas break last year.
Darrell Hansel and Paul Schmitt of the American Legion recently went to Switzerland County Elementary School to make presentations to the winning students.
Students took a multiple choice test on the American Flag, and also wrote an essay on “What the American Flag Means to Me”.
Overall, there were six students who earned a perfect score on the test: Levi Curlin, Kortni Hite, Lydia Lieland, Josh Mills, Josh Reeves, and Gracie White.
Kortni Hite and Levi Curlin were honored as the overall winners based on their essays. They each received a $50 prize from the American Legion; while the other four who earned perfect scores on the test each received a cash prize.
