Fire destroys home in East Enterprise

A fire last Friday morning in East Enterprise completely gutted a residence, causing a county family to lose all of its possessions.

Members of the East Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire just after midnight on Friday at 1288 State Road 250. The fire department was dispatched to the scene after a neighbor placed a 911 emergency call to Switzerland County dispatch.

The home is the residence of the Rick Webb family.

According to firefighters at the scene, when the first truck arrived the home was already engulfed in flames; and firefighters performed a defensive attack on the home.

Due to the unsafe conditions, firefighters were not able to make entry into the home.

Firefighters were at the scene for four hours fighting the blaze and weather; and State Road 250 was shut down while the fire was brought under control.

Although no injuries were reported, the family lost everything in the fire, with the home being completely gutted, with the structure still standing.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the East Enterprise Volunteer Fire Department.

Other units assisting at the scene was the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department and Switzerland County EMS.
