The Indiana Department of Transportation met with Rising Sun officials, contractor representatives and design engineers last week at INDOT Seymour District offices to discuss Phase IV construction of the Riverwalk Project.
Beaty Construction is the prime contractor for this $2,747,074 Local Public Agency Project (LPA) sponsored by the City of Rising Sun. It has been contracted to construct:
• 12-foot-wide asphalt bikeway and an 8-foot-wide concrete walkway along the Ohio River
• 8-foot-wide concrete ramp to connect the bikeway with the walkway
• retaining wall along the bikeway
Officials anticipate that work will begin in mid-September. The completion date is October 31.
The Federal Highway Administration is paying 80 percent of the project cost. The City of Rising Sun is responsible for 20 percent in matching funds.
INDOT administers FHWA monies and assures compliance with federal standards. American Structurepoint, an Indianapolis-based engineer consulting firm, has been retained by the LPA for project design and day-to-day supervision.
