Switzerland County Clerk Ginger Peters has announced that candidates wanting to run in the primary and general elections in 2010 can now begin signing up in her office.

The sign up period began on Wednesday, January 20th.

The deadline to file for office is Friday, February 19th, at noon.

Also: those who need to register to vote may do so until Monday, April 5th. For those who are already registered, Ginger Peters said that her office is busy working to get all of the new 911 addresses into the system. Once in, a notice will be mailed to voters, and if they find that the information or address is incorrect, they will need to call the clerk’s office as soon as possible, 427-4415.

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, May 4th; with absentee applications being available for most voters beginning on Wednesday, February 3rd.

Anyone having any questions regarding the upcoming election or registering to vote should contact the clerk’s office in the courthouse, or call the office at 427-4415.
