The Switzerland County Extension office will be offering a series of programs over the coming weeks for residents of the community.
Here’s a listing of upcoming programs, which will be led by extension staff members Kyle Weaver, Barbara Fletcher, and Ginger Furnish; and all programs will be held at the Switzerland County YMCA from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Healthy Home
– Monday, February 22nd: “Healthy Home” focuses on indoor air quality, asthma and allergies, mold and moisture.
– Monday, March 1st: “Healthy Home” focuses on drinking water, carbon monoxide, and lead.
– Monday, March 8th: “Healthy Home” focuses on hazardous home products and home safety.
Gardening 101
– Monday, March 15th: “Gardening 101” focuses on vegetables.
– Monday, March 22nd: “Gardening 101” focuses on landscaping.
– Monday, March 29th: “Gardening 101” focuses on container gardening.
Small Steps with Food Nutrition Program
– Friday, March 12th: “Small Steps with Food Nutrition Program” focuses on “Small Steps to a Great Start”.
– Friday, April 16th: “Small Steps with Food Nutrition Program” focuses on sensational side dishes and snacks.
– Friday, May 7th: “Small Steps with Food Nutrition Program” focuses on getting calcium-rich foods.
– Friday, June 18th: “Small Steps with Food Nutrition Program” focuses on going lean with protein.
Eating for your eye health
– Date to be announced: Focuses on the risk factors and what foods may minimize the risk for health-related and age-related macular degeneration.
