Eighth grade claims SCIT title


The eighth grade boys basketball team from Switzerland County High School rebounded from a season-opening loss to Madison to win the Switzerland County Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

On Thursday night, the Pacers lost a heartbreaker to Madison by a final score of 35-33. Coach Ryan Jesop said that it was a very close game throughout, and that his Pacer squad simply ran out of time at the end.

On Saturday, the eighth graders won the opening round game of the SCIT by defeating Rising Sun, 49-20. Coach Jesop noted that he was proud of his team’s hustle and enthusiasm during the game.

In the championship game, the Pacers defeated South Ripley by a score of 39-35 in what the Switzerland County coach termed a “nail biter”.

Team members include: Luis Alcocer, Alex Curran, Averi Fultz, Alex Galbreath, Tanner Gray, Nelson Hughes, Celby Kinney, Dalton Scudder, Harlan Scudder, Trevor Smith, Clint Swanson, Logan Todd, and Tyler Queen.
