Edelweiss Teen Princess highlights opening night at Swiss Wine Festival

The 44th Swiss Wine Festival will kick off tonight (Thursday) with a wide range of events and activities, highlighted by the Edelweiss Teen Princess Pageant beginning at 8:15 p.m. on the Main Stage.

This year there are eight contestants for the title of Teen Princess, and the winner and her court will join Festival Princess McKenna Edwards in reigning over this year’s events.

Here’s a look at this year’s contestants:

– HAVEN ALEXA BURROW  is the daughter of Desiree and Shannon Burrow, and is being sponsored in the pageant by Ricketts Jewelry. She is a freshman at Connections Education.

She is a member of the Switzerland Sidewinders 4-H Club; and is active in the Junior Leaders program. She is an Honor Roll student.

Haven’s career goal is to attend Vanderbilt University and pursue a career in business and the performing arts.

– MAGNOLIA PAIGE CLAYTON  is a freshman at Switzerland County High School, and is the daughter of Penny Clayton. She is being sponsored in the pageant by State Farm Insurance, Jennifer Scudder, agent.

She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society; the Switzerland Baptist Church Youth Group; and the Switzerland County High School Band. She participates in cross country, track, and basketball.

Her career ambition is to attend college and pursue a career in marine biology.

 - ALEXANDRIA NICOLE EDWARDS  is being sponsored in the pageant by Uptown Pizza, and she is a freshman at Switzerland County High School. She is the daughter of Michael and Marla Edwards.

She is a member of the Business Professionals of America; National Junior Honor Society; 4-H; and FFA. She plays volleyball and swims; and is a member of the 412 Youth Group Ministry at Olive Branch Baptist Church.

Her career ambition is to attend Indiana State University and major in nursing, and become a nurse practitioner.

– KATLYNN MARIE PAPUCCI  is the daughter of Daniel and Kelly Papucci, and she is being sponsored in the pageant by Swiss Caps. She is a sophomore at Switzerland County High School.

She is active in the organization, “Northern Kentucky Hates Heroin”; and is a member the Switzerland County High School Flag Corps. She is a member of the track team, and enjoys running.

Her career ambition is to attend the Southeastern Career center for cosmetology and use that training to pay her way through college to become a substance abuse counselor.

– KELBY DANIELLE ROGERS  is a junior at Switzerland County High School, and she is the daughter of Laura Wentworth and Chuck Rogers. She is being sponsored in the pageant by Larry’s Auto.

She is a member of the National Honor Society; student council; and is a member of the softball and cheerleading teams. She earned the JV offensive award in softball. She also enjoys swimming and playing the flute.

Her career ambition is to attend Indiana Wesleyan University and pursue a career as a an anesthesiologist.

– EMERSON JULIANA SCHROER  is being sponsored in the pageant by Denver Klinge/North Bend Farms; and she is a sophomore at Switzerland County High School. She is the daughter of John and Laura Schroer.

She is a member of the Switzerland County girls basketball team, earning the Mental Attitude Award last season; and she also is a member of the volleyball team. She is a member of the Posey Pioneers 4-H Club, and she is active in the Junior Leaders program. She also serves as a 4-H Camp Counselor.

Her career ambition is work with children in recreational and learning camps.

- MARY ELIZABETH STREETT  is a freshman at Switzerland County High School; and is the daughter of Timothy and Stacey Streett. She is being sponsored in the pageant by Homestead Realty.

She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society; Switzerland County FFA; the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and the 4-H program. She was also a member of the 8th grade Scholars Program. She enjoys volleyball and cheerleading and horseback riding.

Her career ambition is to attend Duke University and pursue a career as a marine biologist.

- PAIGE ELIZABETH WORKS  is the daughter of Danna Adams and Robbie Works, and she is being sponsored in the pageant by Sheri’s Accounting. She is a junior at Switzerland County High School.

She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society; is an eight year member of the 4-H program; and has earned inclusion on the Honor Roll. She was the first runner up at the Ninth grade MORP (prom) as elected by her classmates.

Her career ambition is to attend the Aveda Institute of Hair in Indianapolis or the Paul Mitchell School of Hair in Louisville following graduation.
