Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ is set for April 19th here

Downtown Vevay and the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park will come alive with all sorts of Easter activities as the annual Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ is held on Saturday, April 19th.

The day begins with the Frisch Marionettes bringing a “Variety Show” to the Historic Hoosier Theater for a 10:30 a.m. show.

At 11 a.m., Ruter Chapel Vevay United Methodist Church will hosts its annual “Lunch with the Easter Bunny” event, which will continue through early afternoon.

The Easter Bunny will be taking pictures with children at the luncheon, and there is a $2 charge for photos, or the public can bring their own cameras and take pictures free of charge. Lunch includes: hot dog, chips, drink, and cupcake or cookie, and is available for $2. Each child visiting the Easter Bunny will receive a free treat bag.

Vevay United Methodist Church is located at the corner of Main and Union streets. Also at 11 a.m. in the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park, events get underway with the Tri Kappa sorority’s Cake Walk. It will be the perfect time to pick up a dessert for Easter dinner the following day.

At 11:30 a.m. the Easter Bunny will make his grand entrance to the park in preparation for the children’s Easter Egg Hunt.

At 11:45 a.m., prizes will be given to the girl wearing the most extravagant Easter Bonnet; and the boy wearing the most extravagant Easter Hat.

The big community Children’s Easter Egg Hunt will begin in the Paul Ogle Riverfront Park. Approximately 3,500 eggs will be hidden around the park, and there will be three age groups for the hunt: 2-4 years old; 5-7 years old; and 8-10 years old.

It should be noted that no adults - including moms, dads, and other relatives – will be allowed inside the hunting area for the 2-4 age group. This is so the children can play and hunt at their own pace.

The Easter ‘Eggstravaganza’ is sponsored by Switzerland County Tourism; Jeff-Craig Fire and Rescue; Switzerland County EMS; Switzerland County High School Key Club; and the Tri Kappa Sorority.
