The Switzerland County community will again gather for the annual Easter “Egg-Stravaganza” this Saturday, April 11th, at the Switzerland County Courthouse in Vevay.

The day is filled with a variety of activities for the young and the young at heart; and is being sponsored by Switzerland County Tourism.

Everything kicks off on Saturday morning with Easter photos being taken at the Visitors Center by Three Spot Images. Packages will be available starting at $8, and everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. Families are invited.

The Frisch Marionettes will perform two puppet shows on Saturday – one at 10:30 a.m. and one at 2 p.m. The performances will be held at the Historic Hoosier Theater.

A Vevay Easter tradition, the puppet troupe is the same featured in the PBS documentary “The American Puppet.” Every aspect of a Frisch production is designed, created and recorded in their own workshop. Each puppet is hand-carved, with every costume sewn and custom-tailored for each character.

The show is a “Variety Puppet Show”, and tickets are $5 for everyone.

Beginning at 11 a.m., the members of the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church in Vevay invite everyone to have “Lunch with the Easter Bunny”.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.; and will feature a menu of hot dogs, chili cheese dogs, potato chips, cookies or cupcakes, and Kool Aid.

Lunch is $2; and pictures with the Easter Bunny are available for $2.50; along with a treat bag from the Easter Bunny.

Also beginning at 11 a.m., there will be a cake walk at the courthouse gazebo sponsored by the Tri Kappa Sorority; and children will be able to sign up to win a large Easter Basket filled with goodies. The sign up will be at the Courthouse.

The big event of the day gets underway at noon with the Community Easter Egg Hunt, which is for children ages 1-10; with the courthouse lawn being sectioned off for each age group.

The Easter Bunny will be on hand to visit with everyone, and local businesses will be open during the day for downtown shopping.
