Duvalls fuel blowout of CAI, 69-9
Coming off of a disappointing loss the night before in the Rivertown Classic championship game, Switzerland County Lady Pacer head coach Mark Boggs and his troops didn’t take long to shake off the after effects, hosting Christian Academy of Indiana in a Saturday matinee and winning by a lopsided score of 69-9.
It was over early, as the Lady Pacer outscored their guests 17-0 in the opening eight minutes.
Jessie Duvall led the way with eight points in the period, including two three pointers; while Maddie Duvall had a three pointer and a field goal for five points. Keirstan Oeffinger and Hannah Hayes each contributed a bucket in the first to round out the scoring.
The second period didn’t get any better for the Lady Warriors, as Switzerland County continued its offensive onslaught, outscoring CAI by an 18-3 tally.
Nora Hankins did outstanding work inside for Switzerland County in the second, notching three field goals for six points; while Oeffinger had a field goal and a three pointer for five points; Maddie Duvall had a three pointer and two field goals for five points; and Halle Archer had a basket.
At the half, Switzerland County led by a margin of 35-3.
The third quarter saw the rout continue, as Switzerland County posted 20 points in the quarter while CAI managed just two.
Jessie Duvall went back to work in the third, scoring 10 points on two three pointers and a pair of field goals; while Maddie Duvall added a three pointer and Hankins converted two more field goals for four points.
Hayes had another bucket; and Gracie White chipped in a freethrow.
Now showing a score of 55-5, the fourth quarter saw plenty of playing time for the reserves, but the Lady Pacers still outscored the Lady Warriors 14-4.
Maddie and Jessie Duvall each had three pointers before exiting the contest; Hayes had two more field goals for four points; Courtney Higgins added a field goal for two points; and Allena Weaver converted a pair of freethrows..
Jessie Duvall led the Lady Pacers with 21 points, and she also had three steals, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Maddie Duvall finished with 16 points, three rebounds, three steals, and three assists.
Hankins was in double figures with 10 points and had four rebounds, a steal, and an assist; Hayes had eight points, four rebounds and three assists; Oeffinger had seven points, six steals, five assists and two rebounds; Archer, Higgins, and Weaver each had two points; and White added one point.
Because CAI did not have a junior varsity team, the Switzerland County Lady Pacer jayvee played Madison on Saturday, and won by a final score of 41-31.
Megan Wetzel was the leading scorer in the game for the Lady Pacers, as she had eight points; while Courtney Higgins and Macy Collier each had seven.
Kenzie Taylor had six points; Maddie Levell finished with five points; Halle Archer had three; Terra Oeffinger and Dakota Richards had two each; and Allena Weaver had one point.
