Drug abuse prevention is meeting theme

The Switzerland County Commissioners have invited the citizens of Switzerland County to come together to address the issues of substance abuse in our community; and the Community Foundation of Switzerland County has agreed to be the coordinator of this endeavor.

“We all know that this issue has been around a very long time” said County Commissioner Mark Lohide. “Every day we hear more and more stories of drug use, drug arrests and overdoses of our citizens. We can’t wait any longer.”

Anyone interested is invited to attend an organizational meeting on Tuesday, June 13th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Switzerland County Technology and Education Center, located at 701 West Seminary Street in Vevay. To make sure we have enough seating for everyone, those planning on attending are encouraged to call the Community Foundation office at (812) 427-9160; or email cfsci@cfsci.org.

“This meeting is the first step,” foundation executive director Pam Acton said. “So if you cannot make the 13th, watch for future announcements of meetings. We all need to be involved.”
