Dennis Scudder, the son of John and Pauline Scudder of East Enterprise, has been promoted to the rank of Corporal by the Indiana State Police. He had held the rank of Master Trooper in the Indianapolis District.
In his new role, he will serve as the Indianapolis District duty officer. He earned the promotion through written testing and by going through a competitive interview process.
As the district duty officer, Dennis Scudder’s primary responsibility is to act on routine or emergency situations on behalf of the district commander.
Corporal Scudder is an 18-year veteran of the department, having graduated from the Indiana State Police Recruit School in December of 1993; and was subsequently assigned to the Indianapolis District, where he worked road patrol in Marion and Shelby counties, a position he has held until his recent promotion.
While on the department, he served as a field training officer; central team tactical intervention platoon; and is a member of the Honor Guard.
Corporal Scudder graduated from Switzerland County High school; and later from the University of Indianapolis with a bachelor’s degree in communications. He resides in Shelbyville with his wife and two children.
He is also a third generation law enforcement officer; as his father, John Scudder, was also an Indiana State Policeman; and his grandfather, Ora Scudder, served as Sheriff of Switzerland County.
