‘Deer Camp’ is this weekend

The Historic Hoosier Theater in Vevay will present the musical comedy “Deer Camp” for three performances this weekend.

The show will be performed tomorrow (Friday) night and also on Saturday night at 7 p.m.; with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

The play has a four man cast, including local performers Tony Catanzaro and Shane Jackson; as well as Jarrad Holbrook and John ‘Spike Wright’. The cast is under the direction of Adele Percer Snook. Also assisting with the production are stage manager Jack Wright; Fred Stave with lights and sound; and set construction was by Dave and Patty Leap.

Set in and around the small Midwestern tow of Elmwood, the play centers on four buddies who are enjoying their annual deer hunting trip – but this year is different. After 15 years of coming home with nothing but a hangover, their wives have given them an ultimatum: bag a deer or your deer camp days are over. Only one hurdle stands in their way – none of them know how to hunt.

Do they buy one? Steal one? Could they possibly try to – shoot one? With this wacky troop, it seems the only ones safe in the woods are the deer, but with song and dance, a bit of chance, and some audience interaction, their prayers are answered just as they run out of beer. Get ready to laugh your antlers off!

Tickets are available at the Switzerland County Visitors Center; or at the Hoosier Theater box office prior to the performance. General admission is $12.
