A local family race team has competed in an upcoming History Channel television show, “Truck Night in America.”
The patriarch and driver of the team is a local resident, maintenance manager, husband, father, and grandfather — Daniel N Papucci Jr. He has been competing in different types of off road racing for the past 25 years. He is a self-taught fabricator and builder who takes pride in his racing accomplishments. He will be competing in the show with his truck, “My Addiction.”
“To be sought after by a major network like A&E and asked if we would be interested in competing on the series was a great honor,” Papucci said. “It added a once in a lifetime experience to the list of accomplishments achieved by this local race team and we are truly humbled to have been given the opportunity.”
The show is episode #6, and is scheduled to air on Thursday April 10th, at 10 p.m. on History Channel.
It’s truck versus terrain, as 50 truck owners from across the United States compete in grueling challenges that test their ingenuity and driving ability in History Channel’s new 10 episode nonfiction competition series, “Truck Night in America.” With the assistance of four experts, owners will compete for the chance to drive the toughest, most arduous truck obstacle course ever built, and drive away with $10,000 prize.
Each episode of this self-contained competition series features five drivers in their personal customized trucks and jeeps going head to head in three challenges, each testing a different vehicle attribute: speed, strength and handling. Between each challenge competitors demonstrate their craftsmanship by re-engineering their trucks for the next round. The last two finalists standing then take on a three-mile, truck killing obstacle course known as “The Green Hell,” which challenges trucks and drivers to fly off jumps, climb a mountain of crushed cars, and tear through a snake-infested swamp.
Five trucks will enter to compete, but only one can win and take home the prize money and the title of “Truck Night Champion.”
Helping the competitors are four expert coaches: desert racing champion and track builder, “Pistol” Pete Sohren; extreme sports pioneer and dirt track racer, Glen Plake; truck builder and master fabricator, Abe Wine and rock crawling champion and master fabricator, Rob “Bender” Park. These four experts offer tough love and their professional perspective on each contender’s strategy and performance.
