Switzerland County Girls cross country team recently placed fourth in the Pre-Conference ORVC meet at Milan. Southwestern won the meet with a team score of 35 points; followed by Rising Sun with 40 points, Jac-Cen-Del with 77 points, Switzerland County with 78 points; and South Ripley with 121 points.
Top finishers for the Lady Pacers included: Amanda Hon, third place in a time of 16:15; April Thieman, 15th place in a time of 19:11; Beth Abbott, 17th place in a time of 19:36; Shana Todd, 20th place in a time of 19:51; Heather Thomas, 32nd place in a time of 22:32; and Ashley Bright, 34th place in a time of 23:04.
“We have improved greatly since the first meet two weeks ago,” Lady Pacer coach Mark Boggs said. “Several of these girls are still learning to race at the varsity level. My hat goes off to Ashley Bright, who was running her first race since having surgery three weeks ago.”
The boys cross country team placed third in the meet. Jac-Cen-Del won the event with a team score of 43; followed by Southwestern with 69; Switzerland County with 75; Milan with 82; South Ripley with 94; and Rising Sun with 117.
Top finishers for the Pacers included: Josh Snow, 10th place in a time of 18:09; Travis Webster, 13th place in a time of 18:19; Clay Meyer, 17th place in a time of 18:25; Zach Getz, 18th place in a time of 18:26; Jim Abbott, 21st place in a time of 18:35; Mark Sharp. 40th place in a time of 21:28; Kyle Green, 41st place in a time of 21:40; Matt Johnson, 47th in a time of 23:09; and Cliff Meyer, 48th with a time of 23:17.
“I feel the boys are running competitively,” Coach Boggs said. “We have 26 seconds separating our first and fifth runners. The boys continue to work hard and are improving drastically.”
