Cross country competes in class meet at SD

The Rising Sun Shiners competed in a class meet at the 18th Annual South Dearborn Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15th in Moores Hill.

The Rising Sun Shiners competed in a class meet at the 18th Annual South Dearborn Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15th in Moores Hill.
The Shiners placed eighth out of nine Grant Taylor 29th (20:06.4). Chris Bowne was 42nd (22:53.8), Brian Givan 47th (25:09) and A.J. Boes 51st (26:49.4).
Williamstown won the division with 38 points. Southwestern was runner up with 46 with Bradley Winston taking first place (16:41.6).
Switzerland County was seventh with 175 points. Ben Hicks led the Pacers in 23rd (19:38.4) and Garrett Demaree 24th (19:39.5). Coby Manbeck was 33rd (20:49.2) followed by Jaydon Day (24:01.3), Peyton Gammons (25:30.6) and Levi Baker (27:56.6).
South Ripley won the girls portion of the meet in Division II.
The Raiders scored 39 points to finish ahead of Jac-Cen-Del 60, Switzerland County 64, Milan 84, Southwestern 122 and Lawrenceburg 34.
South Ripley’s Megan Cole won the 3.1 mile race in 19:13.6.
Switzerland County’s Leah Anders was second in 20:37. Keirstan Oeffinger was seventh (22:31.4), Alisha Detmer 15th (23:52), Matty Anders 16th (24:07.5), Allison Detmer 24th (25:38.2) and Zoe Cole 29th (27:32).

Rising Sun did not have a complete team. McKenzie Ellegood was 30th in 27:18.5). Kiera Oser finished in 30:18.3 and Abby Wallace finished at 31:31.3.
Rising Sun competes in the Pumpkin Invitational tonight (Thursday) in Versailles. The Ohio River Valley Conference meet is Saturday, Sept. 29th in Hanover at 5 p.m. They return to Moores Hill for the sectional on Saturday, Oct. 6th.
