Courtney Cole, Kyle Green are ‘Players of the Week’

The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for the week of November 19th-24th – and top honors were swept by Switzerland County players.

– Senior Courtney Cole was honored as the “Player of the Week” in girls basketball.

The honor was earned by her 51 points, 13 rebounds, seven steals, and 67-percent field goal shooting in two games.

– Honored as “Top Performers” in girls basketball were Lady Pacers Megan McCarty and Amber Smith.

Megan McCarty was honored for her 12 points and seven rebounds against South Decatur.

Amber Smith was honored for her 15 points and three rebounds versus Milan.

Others honored as “Top Performers” in girls basketball included: Kiersten Young, Kaylin Ploeger, and Val Wagner of Jac-Cen-Del; Ebony Inskeep and Mariah Berry of Madison Shawe; Kendall Withered, Sarah Roth, and Devin Brierly of Southwestern; Jaclyn Armbruster of Rising Sun; and Kady Alloway and Jess Wessler of Milan.

– Junior Kyle Green was honored as the “Player of the Week” in boys basketball.

He earned the honor by scoring 36 points, including five three-pointers; and grabbing nine rebounds in two games.

– Fellow Pacers Mark Sharp and Brennan Bragg were honored as “Top Performers”.

Mark Sharp was honored for his 14 points, 13 assists, six rebounds, and 10 steals in two games.

Brennan Bragg was spotlighted for his 12 points and 10 rebounds versus Jennings County.

Others named “Top Performers” included: Blake Sutton, Matt Gehl, and Brandon Gehl of Jac-Cen-Del; Jacob Bump, Deuce Hall, and Nick Hall of Madison Shawe; B.J. Sieverding and Trent Tucker of South Ripley; Zeph Vaughn and Myles Hornsby of Rising Sun; and Tyler Kirk and Brandon Withers of Milan.

– In girls basketball:

Courtney Cole is third in the conference in scoring with an average of 17.2 points per game. She’s also fifth in field goal percentage at .514; and is fifth in rebounding with an average of 6.8 per game.

Amber Smith is tied for 10th in the conference in scoring with an average of 8.4 points per game; and is sixth in the conference in the number of three-pointers made with six.

Megan McCarty is 10th in the conference in field goal percentage at .464 and is also 10th in freethrow percentage at .667.

Tanya Sefton is seventh in field goal percentage at .471, and is 10th in assists with 14.

April Thieman is fourth in the conference in rebounding with an average of 7.2 per game; and Morgan Ross is fifth in the ORVC in freethrow percentage with an average of .714.

– In boys basketball:

Kyle Green leads the ORVC in scoring with an average of 17.3 points per game; and is tied for the conference lead in rebounding with an average of seven per game. He is fifth in freethrow percentage at .850; and is third in the number of three-pointers made with seven.

Brennan Bragg is second in the conference in field goal percentage at .730; and is tied for fifth in rebounding with a per game average of 6.3.

Mark Sharp is second in the conference in assists with 21; and Brandon Otter is 10th in field goal percentage at .560.
