The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for the week of January 28th-February 2nd, and Switzerland County senior Courtney Cole has been honored as the “Player of the Week” in girls basketball.
Courtney Cole was honored for her 33 points, 17 rebounds, six assists in two games.
Lady Pacer Megan McCarty was also honored as a “Top Performer” for the week.
Megan McCarty was honored for scoring 32 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and picking up 11 steals in two games.
Other players honored as “Top Performers” included: Mariah Berry of Madison Shawe; Becca Wagner, Kiersten Young, and Kristen Hicks of Jac-Cen-Del; Sonja Bowyer of Southwestern; Kelly Stutler of Milan; and Kayla Ferreira and Jaclyn Armbruster of Rising Sun.
It was also announced that the Switzerland County Lady Pacer junior varsity team captured the ORVC championship.
In boys basketball, Pacers Mark Sharp and Devon Armstrong were honored as “Top Performers”.
Mark Sharp was honored for his 12 points and three assists versus South Ripley.
Devon Armstrong was honored for his 10 points and three steals against South Ripley.
Others honored as “Top Performers” included: Brandon Gehl and Blake Sutton of Jac-Cen-Del; B.J. Sieverding and Trent Tucker of South Ripley; and Mike Lovern and Zeph Vaughn of Rising Sun.
Tanner Mahoney of Southwestern was honored as the “Player of the Week”.

– In girls basketball:
Courtney Cole is second in the conference in scoring with an average of 16.4 points per game. She’s also seventh in rebounding with an average of 6.5 per game; and is eighth in field goal percentage at .460.
April Thieman is sixth in the conference in rebounding with an average of 7.0 per game; and is ninth in freethrow percentage at .685.
Megan McCarty is eighth in the ORVC in freethrow percentage at .691, and Amber Smith, is eighth in the conference in the number of three-pointers made with 20.
– In boys basketball:
Kyle Green leads the ORVC in scoring with an average of 17.1 points per game; is third in the conference in the number of three-pointers made with 31; and is fifth in the conference in freethrow percentage at .740.
Brennan Bragg is fourth in the conference in rebounding with an average of 6.9 per game; is second the conference in field goal percentage at .530; and is 10th in freethrow percentage at .660.
Mark Sharp leads the conference in assists with 84; and Devon Armstrong is eighth in freethrow shooting percentage at .680.
