County BPA students advance to National competition

  The Switzerland County High School chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) has several students advancing to national competition.

  The Switzerland County High School chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) has several students advancing to national competition.

  BPA aims to develop leadership, academic, and technological skills in the workplace among students and leaders within the community. Every year BPA hosts a National Leadership Conference (NLC) with nearly 6,000 students from across the nation. At NLC, students compete in over 71 competitive events with students from across the United States. The 2018 National Leadership Conference will take place in Dallas, Texas on May 9th-13th.

  Switzerland County students advancing included:

  Calleigh Powell is advancing in two competitions. She earned first place in Prepared Speech and fourth place in Interview Skills. Calleigh will also be a campaign manager for a student who is running for the National Officer Team.

Garrett Demaree is also advancing in two competitions. He earned third place in Interview Skills and fifth place in Advanced Spreadsheets.

  Sydney Thomas is advancing to the National Conference after placing in Fundamental Desktop Publishing.

  Ariel Oeffinger is advancing in Economic Research Individual. She will also be attending the conference as a state voting delegate to elect the new National Officer Team; as she will be the Region 12 President for year 2018-2019.

  Emma Sullivan placed 7th in Entrepreneurship to also advance to the national conference.
