Ohio County Council and Commissioners have approved funding of a School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Ohio County Elementary Middle School.
On Monday, July 30th, officials amended its salary ordinance to include John Ryle as the SRO.
The school had received a grant for the resource officer who will be a county employee. His salary will be reimbursed by the school with the county paying social security and health insurance.
Sheriff Glen Potts received a $4960 grant from the Ohio County Community Foundation to replace existing security cameras and add additional. The grant paid for a camera in the elevator but he needed council approval to pay $848.75 for wiring the camera.
Assessor Ed Hautman told council that Rising Sun will be assessed this year. He plans to send out a form 11 (notice of assessment) to all residents at a cost of $1000.
He plans to continue to use Pictometry, which provides aerial photos. βItβs my goal to get crisp photos of entire county eventually,β Hautman said of new technology available.
A transfer was approved for the highway department for $11,387.50 from cinders into striping. Several officials noted the newly striped Salem Ridge.
In other business, council president Tammy Elbright read a request from the Child Advocacy Center for funding. The county has approved $2500 in past years. The center helps 22 Ohio Countians.
A transfer was approved for 911 repairs of the courthouse generator. A low bid of $4610 was approved from Miller Brick Communications for doing the wiring.
Officials agreed to pay $700 for training for the Dearborn-Ohio County prosecutor.
Council will meet on Aug. 24th for budget hearings.
