Corey McFarland, Tanner Ross are Sectional Champions


The Switzerland County Pacer boys varsity basketball team competed in the Sectional at East Central High School last Thursday night, and Pacer seniors Corey McFarland and Tanner Ross both earned individual championships.

Corey McFarland won the 3,200-meter run in a personal best time of 10:10; and he will also compete in the Regional tonight (Thursday) at Connersville by finishing second overall in the 1,600-meter run.

Tanner Ross is the East Central Sectional champion in the long jump with a distance of 20′ 3″; and he also qualified for the Regional by finishing third overall in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

Freshman Alex Curran advances to the Regional after finishing second overall in the high jump; and teammate Tray Meyer, who finished fourth overall in the high jump, will also advance to Connersville.

Senior Josh Hon will run in the 400-meter dash at the Regional after finishing fourth in the Sectional.

Overall, East Central won the Sectional with a score of 124; followed by Batesville with 91; Greensburg with 61; South Ripley with 59; Switzerland County with 52; Rising Sun with 43; South Dearborn with 35; North Decatur with 34; Lawrenceburg with 32; Oldenburg Academy with 27; Milan with 25 1/2; Franklin County with 17; Jac-Cen-Del with 14 1/2; and South Decatur with nine
