Corey McFarland, Amber Meli honored as ‘Runners of the Week’


The Ohio River Valley Conference has released its listing of “Players of the Week” and “Top Performers” for the week of September 24th-29th; and the Switzerland County boys and girls cross country teams picked up high honors this week.

– For the fourth straight week, a member of the boys cross country team has been named the “Runner of the Week” in the conference.

This time it is Corey McFarland, who earned the honor by running a time of 18:01 in a home meet. He shared the honor with Ben Montgomery of South Ripley.

Pacers Clay Meyer and Tray Meyer were honored as “Top Performers”.

Clay Meyer was honored for his 17:31 in a home meet; and Tray Meyer was honored for his time of 18:45 in a home meet.

– In girls cross country, Lady Pacer Amber Meli was honored as the “Runner of the Week” for her time of 21:36 in a home meet.

Also honored as “Top Performers” were Maggie Armstrong and Beth Abbott.

Maggie Armstrong was honored for her time of 24:21 in a home meet; while Beth Abbott was honored for her time of 24:51 in the same meet.

– In volleyball, Lady Pacers Lindsay Scott, Jamie Phipps, and Christina Ahaus were honored as “Top Performers”.

Lindsay Scott was honored for her four kills, nine digs, and 16 kill assists during the week.

Jamie Phipps was honored for her 10 kills, eight blocks, and 14 points serving during the week.

Christina Ahaus was honored for her 12 kills, and four blocks in a week.

Jennifer Wullenweber of Milan was named the “Player of the Week” in volleyball.
