Conference honors spring sport athletes

The Ohio River Valley Conference has announced its listing of “Top Performers” and “Players of the Week” in spring sports for the time period of March 31st through April 5th.

– In baseball, Pacers Ryan Peters and Zach Osowski were honored as “Top Performers”.

Ryan Peters was honored for going 5-for-10 at the plate with three RBI and scoring two runs in four games/

Zach Osowski was honored for pitching seven innings and allowing three earned runs while striking out four in earning two wins during the week.

Other conference players named as “Top Performers” included: Cody Stephens, Patrick O’Neal, and Terrell Boyd of Southwestern; Cory Fogle, Myles Hornsby, and Tyler Banschbach of Rising Sun; and B.J. Sieverding of South Ripley.

Chris Walker of Milan was honored as the “Player of the Week”.

– In softball, Lady Pacer players Megan McCarty, Becky Turner, and Rachel Rodgers were honored as “Top Performers”.

Megan McCarty was honored for going 3-for-4 with two RBI and scoring two runs against Lawrenceburg.

Becky Turner was honored for pitching 14 innings and recording 15 strikeouts while picking up one win.

Rachel Rodgers was honored for going 2-for-3 at the plate including a double, adding an RBI and a run scored against South Dearborn.

Other conference players named as “Top Performers” included: Kaylin Ploeger and Kristen Hicks of Jac-Cen-Del; Kelci Lange and Brenna Keith of Rising Sun; Alex Snyder of South Ripley; and Devin Brierly and Samantha Watkins of Southwestern.

Courtney Weaver of Rising Sun and Brittany Gavelek of Southwestern were honored as “Players of the Week”.
