In as timely a fashion as possible, the Community Foundation of Switzerland County’s “10th Anniversary $1,000 A Month Grant” for June has been awarded to the Switzerland County Relay For Life.

This makes the sixth $1,000 grant that has been awarded in 2008 from the Community Foundation of Switzerland County to help celebrate 10 years of serving the charitable needs of Switzerland County.

The foundation has designated this grant be used for whatever expenses that need to be covered for the 2008 Relay For Life in Switzerland County, so that the maximum amount raised can be sent for research to help find the cure for cancer.

The volunteer board of directors of the community foundation understand and appreciate the hard work that all of the volunteers of the Switzerland County Relay For Life put in to this event each year.

The Community Foundation also wants to remind everyone of the other parts of its 10th Anniversary Celebration:

– Don’t forget that during 2008 your gift to any permanent fund will automatically be worth 125-percent. The “Here Today. Here Tomorrow Initiative” means that a 25-percent match to any donations contributed to a permanent fund within the community foundation.

Please go to the community foundation’s website, www.cfsci.org, to see a list of permanent funds already created.

You may give any amount to any of these funds or create your own named fund to qualify for the match.

– Remember, the foundation has announced new field of interest funds: “Youth and Families Fund”, “Animal and Environment Fund”, and “Lifelong Learning Fund”.

If your passion is assuring that the charitable needs of Switzerland County in one or more of these areas are taken care of in the future, you may wish to contribute to one or more of these funds. The foundation offers auto-debt from your checking or savings account, so if you would like to make regular monthly gifts to a fund, please contact the foundation at 427-9160.

For more information on any of the above announcements or the Community Foundation of Switzerland County, Inc., please go to its website at www.cfsci.org; contact Pam Acton or Melissa Andrew at 427-9160; or visit the office at 303 Ferry Street.
