Switzerland County junior Clay Meyer’s outstanding cross country season came to an end on Saturday at the semistate meet held at Franklin Central High School.

The Pacer runner placed 81st overall out of 150 of the best runners in the state, clocking a time of 17:10.

Hamilton Southeastern’s Zach Gates won the semistate in a time of 15:31.

“Clay went out the way he is used to going out,” Pacer coach Mark Boggs said. “He was in the top 10 through the first mile of the race, but was unable to hold onto the spot.”

The Franklin Central Semistate featured a stellar field, including 12 of the top 24 teams in the state rankings.

“The semistate ends a stellar season for Clay,” Coach Boggs said. “I am very proud of this accomplishments and the way he represented Switzerland County High School.”
