The Risin gSun City Council held a public hearing and approved a three year trash pick up and recycling contract with Rumpke during its Thursday, Oct. 4th meeting.
The first year costs will be $13.95 ($10 for garbage nd $3.95 for recycling). That will increase to $14.30 in year two and $14.66 in year three.
Council unanimously approved recommendation from the plan commission for the preliminary plans of a Planned Unit Development by Britt Minks. He changed his original 20 lot plan to up to six lots and the use of septic systems because city services were not available.
Minks will present a detailed plan to the plan commission which must meet all state and local requirements and restrictions.
Councilman Bud Radcliff expressed concerns of dumping at brush dump from out of county residents. The city pays $15,000 to burn off the brush, according to clerk-treasurer Rae Gipson.
Couuncil discussed its 2010 crime policy ordinance and will take action at the next meeting on November 1st.
Pat Watkins had the low bid of $18,343.06 for the city’s propsed HVAC prject.
Aftrwards, reisdent Jim McDaniel was upset that Rumpke had not picked up his trash. He has lived at the same location for the last five years. Council approved to have Rumpke resume trash pick up as it had done in the past.
In other business, council accepted a propsed negotiated settlement on riverfront litigation with Land Consolutants.
The city will meet with Ohio Cunty officials for its annual riverboat gaming meeting on Nov 13th at 5:30 p.m.
