Switzerland County High School is hosting the 71st annual Ohio Valley Choral Festival Concert on Thursday, February 26th.

The performance will be held in the gymnasium and will begin at 7:30 p.m.

There will be nine schools singing together in mass choir – approximately 550 students – under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Paul A. Torkelson from New York City.

The schools participating are: Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn, Madison, Charlestown, Jeffersonville, Clarksville, New Albany, Floyd Central and Switzerland County.

This years concert is funded by a grant from the Switzerland County Endowment.

Songs the choir will be singing include: “The Awakening”; “Bridge Over Troubled Water”; “Shout Glory”; and “Battle Hymn of the Republic”.

The Ohio Valley Choral Festival is the oldest choir festival in the state of Indiana. There is a tradition at the concert that any person attending that was a participant in Ohio Valley Choral Festival when they were a student in high school is invited to sing with the choir the final selection of the event – “Battle Hymn of the Republic”.
