Members of the Switzerland County High School and Switzerland County Middle School choirs recently participated in the Solo and Ensemble Contest for vocal and piano; and again county students did very well.
Jennifer Johnson, a student at Switzerland County High School, earned a Gold Medal in the Group I Vocal Solo, which qualified her to advance to the state competition, which was held in Indianapolis.
At the state competition, Jennifer earned a Silver Medal.
Other Switzerland County High School students competing at the district level included:
– Caitlin Hale, Gold Medal in piano solo.
– A boys ensemble consisting of Cody Lloyd, Dylan Griffith, William Metcalf, and Adam Harmon earned a Gold Medal.
– Silver Medals for vocal solos were earned by Heather Turner, Tyler Hayes, and Eddie Kittle.
- A Bronze Medal was earned by the girls quartet featuring Jennifer Johnson, Carly West, Robin Rickett, and Caitlin Hale.
- A Bronze Medal was earned by a mixed ensemble featuring Dylan Griffith, Kevin Adams, Eddie Kittle, William Metcalf, Adam Harmon, Cody Lloyd, Caitlin Hale, Samantha Helt, Tyler Hayes, Heather Turner, Jennifer Johnson, Carly West, and Robin Rickett.
Switzerland County Middle School students who competed included:
- Tia Damerst earned a Gold Medal for vocal solo.
- Earning Silver Medals for vocal solos were Sidney Barkley and Alyssa Behren.
– A Bronze Medal was earned by the girls ensemble consisting of: Sidney Barkley, Laura Braun, Holly Bright, Emily Evans, Tiffany Hardin, Kacey Hufford, Alleyshia Jones, Hannah Rapier, Mary Turner, and Caitlyn Dornbush.

Piano accompaniment for the students was provided by teacher Kathy Williams, and Ginna Watson and Caren Griffith attended the competition as chaperones.
