A Stones Throw 11-15-12

While an interim coach who leads his team to a 5-1 record might not be the coach of the year, he certainly deserves to have his name spelled correctly. To that, I congratulate Bruce Arians, interim head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. He is my 'Coach of the Year' no matter what happens the rest of the season. (Last week I spelled the last name Aries. My apologies.)

Several things I like and several things I don't like:

A Stones Throw 11-1-12

This is the first 'A Stones Throw' in over six months. Those of you who have read Stones Throw in the past know that my Father died just before Christmas last year. At the time we knew my mother was fighting terminal cancer.

She lost the fight on June 5th, 2012.

Sometimes you don't have to be psychic to predict the future.

I was glad to see the entire Comprehensive Plan in last week's newspaper. At the same time, I was appalled and dismayed.

I have a big announcement to make.

I am running for President of the United States of America.

I am one of the lucky ones. In this economy where every penny counts - that is if you have a penny to count - being selected to receive "exciting new benefits" makes for a good day.

A Stones Throw 3-8-12

I would be remiss not to mention the tragic storms that hit the Tri-state last Friday. While many area residents had to withstand massive winds, rain, and hailstones as large as baseballs, we can all be thankful that the tornadoes that caused destruction and death missed us.

Why would we burn books - any books - let alone copies of the Quran and other Muslim religious books - and in Afghanistan at that?
