I was really sorry to read about Molly Buttons.

We had a good Relay meeting Thursday evening. It seems to be shaping up well. The churches are being asked to bring cupcakes or tea or lemonade for the Survivor Dinner on June 8th at the Switzerland County High School cafeteria.

Hello friends, hope you have had a good week; it has been lovely out here on the Pike. Have you noticed how prolific, and loud, the 'bird song' has been lately? The birds are so noisy, you can barely hear yourself think . . . good thing I don't do much thinking.

The American Cancer Society Relay 2012 will have a meeting Thursday evening, May 24th, at the Water Works Building on Seminary Street in Vevay at 6 p.m. It will be bank night so bring any money you have to turn in.

I would like to congratulate Patriot resident Mike Jones for being named the new superintendent of Switzerland County Schools. It's very well deserved.

Well this coming weekend will be Memorial weekend, the first long weekend of summer, time to reflect on what this weekend really means. Memorial Day service is for the ones who were in t he service, a day of respect for the loved ones who have passed on. Remember t hem in your own way and keep them in your heart today, tomorrow and forever.

Saturday was a full day. It started with a Mother's Day breakfast at the Old School Cafe´ with Roy and Bonnie Duckworth, Charles and Alberta Pickett, Glenda Sullivan and Patty Chase.

Hello friends, hope your week has been a good one. We certainly had enough rain Saturday night and Sunday; my gauge has just under two inches in it and it sure beat the peonies down, which have bloomed earlier than usual this year...so what else is new, ha.
