Cass Union Alumni meet, Award six scholarships

The 13th Annual Cass Union Reunion was held Saturday, July 18th, in the Family Life Center at Rising Sun Church of Christ.

Approximately 80 persons, including former schoolmates, families, friends, and scholarship recipients registered at the front table upon entering the center.

Barb Scranton, reunion committee chairperson, welcomed the group in attendance and Bob Johnson gave grace.

After the pitch-in meal, which was an array of delicious foods, Carolyn Brown of the scholarship committee presented scholarships to the 2015 high school graduates receiving the Cass-Union School scholarships.

They included: Whitney Chipman, Erin Webb, Ben Eads, Jamie Williams, and Whitney McKay. Not able to attend was Elizabeth Heis. Jake Uhlmansiek was mentioned as an honorary recipient as he received the Lilly Foundation Scholarship. All recipients were children or grandchildren of former Cass Union students. All donations and memorials go directly to the scholarship fund.

Rose Marie Curry recited poems that filled the room with laughter. Door prizes were given to 12 lucky persons.

Pictures were taken of former Cass Union students in several groups. Those in attendance introduced themselves and many shared some of their most memorable days at Cass Union School. Photographs and memorabilia were on display and brought back many memories.

The Cass Union Reunion committee expresses their appreciation to everyone who attended this year and extends an invitation to the 14th annual reunion scheduled for July, 2016 at the Rising Sun Church of Christ.
