Rising Sun won its second straight game to close the regular season with a 55-10 win over Providence Crisp Rey in a makeup game Friday, January 26th at Rising Sun.
Junior Lucy Carrigan compiled her first triple double with 17 points 10 rebounds and 10 steals.
The Lady Shiners led 19-0 after one quarter and 35-0 at the half. It was 50-0 before the private school from Indianapolis scored near the close of the third quarter.
The visitors shot just 10 percent from the field on 4-for-39 and committed 37 turnovers.
Rising Sun had 28 more shots, making 23of-67, while making 21 turnovers.
Freshman Sydney Pitts added 13 points and two rebounds. Chelsea Brown and Kinsey Price added eight points with Sydney Bostic scoring seven n Jayden McAlister two.
Earlier in the week Rising Sun captured a 52-40 win over Switzerland County to close the Ohio River Valley Conference season at 1-5.
In that game, Carrigan scored 35 points to set a new single season scoring record surpassing Jessica Brock Peelman’s 517 and passed Kim Thompson (1080) into third place in career scoring behind Jessica Brown Peelman’s 1715 and Jennifer Brock Craig’s 1274.
She was 15-for-17 from the free throw line after not having a single free throw attempt in a loss at Shawe.
Jayden McAlister had her best game of the season with eight points and six rebounds.
Rising Sun (4-18) was scheduled to open Class A Sectional 60 play against Southwestern (Shelby) (14-8) Wednesday, February 1st at Jac-Den-Del. Carrigan enters the post season with 1108 points.
