Switzerland County Highway Department Clerk Carla Armstrong has received a state honor.
Nominated by the Switzerland County Commissioners, Armstrong traveled to Indianapolis on Thursday, November 30th, to receive an award for “Outstanding Supportive Administrative Assistant of the Year” by the Indiana Association of County Commissioners. She was accompanied to the awards presentation by Commissioner Mark Lohide; County Highways Superintendent Darrell Keith; her husband, Shane Armstrong; and her parents, Carl and Sandy Althoff.
The commissioners nominated Armstrong for the award for her writing 11 different grants to the Indiana Department of Transportation for its “Community Crossings” grants program.
Switzerland County received eight of the 11 grants that were applied for, bringing a total of $869,850 to the county for work on roads and bridges.
Armstrong has served as the Switzerland County Highway Department Clerk for the past two years.
