Care packages to be filled November 27th

292

On Saturday, November 27th,. a special event will take place at the Vevay American Legion Post on Ferry Street. Beginning at 10 a.m., care packages for our soldiers who are deployed overseas will be packed to shipment in time for the holidays.

And everyone is invited to be a part of this special day.

Currently, organizers have the names of 10 soldiers who will be getting care packages from Switzerland County.

If you have someone in your family who is deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan, please share their address with care package coordinators so that Christmas cheer may be sent to as many soldiers as possible.

On packing day, family members of soldiers currently deployed will be helping, so everyone will get to see first hand what it means to them to know that their community cares about the job that their soldier is doing to protect our freedom.

Non-perishable food items, toiletries, and Christmas gifts are still needed to send to the soldiers, and all donations are welcome.

Everyone is also welcome to write letters and Christmas cards to be included in the boxes, and churches are encouraged to have Sunday School classes make cards and pictures. School classes are also encouraged to participate.

Please join organizers and soldier’s families on Saturday, November 27th, at 10 a.m. and help with these special care packages.

Anyone who would like to know more about what and how to donate; or who has other questions about this event, should contact Rita Sullivan at 427-3947.
